How much does a dental website cost in Canada?
Typical price ranges, what you are really paying for, the ongoing costs few quotes mention, and how to tell if a quote is fair.
01The short answer
Dental website cost in Canada ranges from a few hundred dollars a year for a do-it-yourself template to $6,000–$20,000 or more for a custom site built by an agency. Where you land depends on three things: who builds it, how much is written and designed for your practice specifically, and whether you own the finished site or rent it month to month.
At DentalMarq, a custom dental website starts at $7,500 as a fixed price, with design, copywriting, online booking and SEO set up at launch. The rest of this guide explains what sits behind those numbers, so you can judge any quote, including ours.
02What you are actually paying for
A dental website is not one product. The price is the sum of the work that goes into it:
- Design: a look built around your practice, or a template shared with many others.
- Copywriting: words written for nervous patients and for Google, or placeholder text you fill in yourself.
- Treatment pages: one page for each treatment you want more of, such as implants, Invisalign or emergencies. Each one is a chance to be found for that search.
- Booking and contact: online booking, forms that reach the front desk, and a phone number patients can tap.
- Speed and accessibility: a site that loads fast on a phone and works for everyone.
- SEO at launch: titles, structured data, redirects from your old site and Google Search Console set up from day one.
- Photography: real photos of your team and rooms, instead of stock smiles.
03Typical dental website cost in Canada, by type
Prices vary widely, so treat these as rough ranges rather than rules.

| Do-it-yourself builder | $25–$75 a month, plus your time | You, on their platform | A brand-new practice on a tight budget |

| Freelancer | $2,000–$6,000 | Usually you | A simple site with a clear brief |
| Custom dental agency | $6,000–$20,000+ | Should be you | Practices that want to stand out and grow specific treatments |

05Ongoing costs to plan for
The build is only part of the budget. Plan for these as well:
- Domain name: usually a small yearly fee.
- Hosting and care: secure hosting, backups, updates and small edits. Ask whether this is included, and what happens if you leave.
- Business email: often billed per user per month.
- SEO and Google Business Profile management: the work that keeps new patients finding you. It is optional, but a new site on its own rarely climbs Google without it.
- Google Ads: a management fee plus the ad spend itself, which goes to Google.
06Buying or renting: why ownership matters
Many template services charge a monthly fee and keep ownership of the design, the words and sometimes even the domain. If you stop paying, the site goes with them, and the practice starts again from nothing.
Before you sign, ask one question: if we part ways, what do we keep? The right answer is everything: the design, the code written for you, the copy, the photos you paid for, and full access to the domain and hosting. With DentalMarq, once a project is paid in full, you own every file.
07How to tell if a quote is fair
Use this checklist on any proposal, including ours:
- Is the price fixed? An hourly estimate can grow. A fixed quote cannot.
- Who writes the words? If it says “client to supply content”, budget your own time or a copywriter.
- How many treatment pages are included? One generic “Services” page rarely ranks.
- Is SEO set up at launch? Redirects from your old pages matter, or you can lose the rankings you already have.
- Do you own it? Design, code, copy, photos, domain and hosting access.
- What does it cost after launch? Hosting, care and any monthly fees, written down.
- Can you leave? Month-to-month beats a long contract for anything ongoing.
08How long it takes
A custom dental website usually takes six to eight weeks from approved plan to launch. Most of that time goes into the plan, the words and your review of the designs, not the build itself. Branding, if you need it, runs first or alongside and adds three to four weeks.

Questions

Roughly from a few hundred dollars a year for a do-it-yourself template to $6,000–$20,000 or more for a custom agency site. At DentalMarq, a custom dental website starts at $7,500 as a fixed price, including design, copywriting, online booking and SEO at launch.
Is a monthly dental website subscription cheaper?
It is cheaper at the start, but you pay every month and the provider usually owns the site. Over a few years it can cost more than a site you own, and you keep nothing if you leave.
What ongoing costs should a dental practice budget for?
A domain name, hosting and care, business email, and optionally SEO and Google Ads management. Ask for these in writing before you sign, together with what happens if you leave.
How long does it take to build a dental website?
Usually six to eight weeks for a custom site, most of it spent on the plan, the words and design review. Branding adds three to four weeks if it is needed.
Do I own my dental website?
You should. Ask for the design, the code written for you, the copy, the photos you paid for, and full access to the domain and hosting. With DentalMarq you own every file once the project is paid in full.
